UP UNTIL NOW
film - live performance film. (2021)
USA, 11 minutes
During the fall of 2020, I was asked to participate in a loosely conceived film projected commissioned by beth morrison projects. there was a general arch of an idea but was intended as a devised process in which the film would be made with minimal preproduction as a reaction to the enviroment and ensemble involved.
I was hired as the director of photography, editor, and camera operator. i eventually took a co-director role as our working dynamic established. shooting took place in freedom, new hampshire. the film is about a person who transforms into a mermaid. during shooting, it became clear that the project would benefit from a live performance to complete the idea.
Themes include: dancing in the woods, transcendence, human touch. Inspired by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, heinrich heine, and derek jarman
